A few nights ago i went to the House Of Blues in Dallas to see one of my favorite groups of all time. George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars. I’ve probably seen these cats perform over the years a good twenty times and they never fail to flat out “bring it”. This night was definitely no execption and it didn’t matter that it was a Monday night, the house was on fire. After all these years George still manages to keep the show fresh and so this night the good Dr. Funkenstein fo sho opened up a can of some “whoop yo ass” stuff!!!

Through my years i’ve seen a lot of very talented performers. But every now and then you run across that artist that you know has the potential to be that next superstar. When we did the Touch The Sky tour a few years back we had Fantasia as support. Almost 60 shows across America and I never missed her performance one night. She reminded me so much of a female version of a young Charlie Wilson. You ever seen a performer kill a song and get to the end of it and just drop the mic to the floor and walk off the stage? Well Fantasia would rock the mic and then eat it!!!

…So anyway, just as the Mothership seemed as it where about to shut the engines down, George dug way down into his bag of tricks and brought out Mary Griffin, and I knew …. i just knew. And of all things to sing with a ship full of rockers, the Mothership made a left turn down blues way (milkyway that is), and rocked Dr. Feelgood. I know the stage crew spent all night looking for that mic, huh, Mary ate it. Yo Mary, if you happen to read this post, know that the World Famous Tony Williams is try’na holla!!! I’d love to work with ya!!
