Jeffrey Williams grew up not far from New Orleans in the Louisiana town of Marrero where he, more than likely, was raised on a steady diet of gumbo. As well, it was probably the bright lights of Bourbon Street (along with other seedier elements) that inspired his m.c. name (a.k.a.) City Sparks. POLITICS AS USUAL, his latest mixtape seems to have every ingredient in the pot; the diversity in the production was enough to hold World Famous’ interest throughtout… and dude rhymes quite nicely. He describes his sound as raw, wet, sexy soul.
Also check out Crescentcityradio.com where he co-host alongside DJ 303 every Sunday night from 8p.m. to 12a.m. (cst.). They’ll chop up day to day life and music topics and play today’s most exclusive hip hop and r&b from local, international, and underground artist that (in his words) express themselves through music in its purest form… Recently while I was touring Asia I messed around and turned it on and heard some World Famous Tony Williams and thought..”hmmmm, this is a dope-ass show..” POLITICS AS USUAL is my mixtape pick of the month.
