What is The World Famous Tony Williams: Finding Dakota Grey mixtape (free download)

TIME TO PUT THE BAND BACK TOGETHER.  The mixtape is done and  all I can say is “Holy smokes and Gee Wiz!!”  It was hard work, but it was worth it!  Now without furthur adieu, it is my pleasure to introduce to you my first mainstream project:  The World Famous Tony Williams:  FINDING DAKOTA GREY.  It is also my pleasure to introduce the very subject of the project, Dakota Grey.  I found her and now it’s time that you did.  I must warn you though, if you ain’t been waiting for a project that offers that sexy, edgy, silky, “funky like ya like stuff “, then I wouldn’t touch this one with a touchin’ machine.  The mixtape is mixed by Kanye West’s  d.j.  DJ Aktive and offers features from a parade of friends that guarantees something for everyone.

There are so many great things to say about this mixtape. For me, the songs evoked strong imagery and atmosphere. Each had a different unique element to it. When I listened to the Nightmares remix it felt so mysterious, the vocals, the different elevations with the autotune here and there, and Dakotas powerful voice really brings it all together.

‘King or the Fool’ is deep and soulful track. Tony, you are totally confident and smooth. I feel that this song is sung with great style and the chorus is really melodic, and I enjoyed how it developed (although it suddenly stops at the end, might be the mp3). Then I came across this awesome track: ‘Double Back On This Love’ that really blew me away. It has so much class and atmosphere, the kind of sexiness you can’t sell in imagery. I think this is Dakota’s voice is so seducing. The first time I heard it, I felt like I was with Pam Grier in ‘Jackie Brown’.

‘A star is Born’ is a brilliant collaborative effort, and was superbly mixed with your brilliant vocals for the chorus, although I would have liked to hear you more featured in this one.

Then I discovered this track that you did with Kanye and remade : LalaLala. You know what, I think that piano mix works so well with your voice. This song was very visual for me, with a lot of symbolism (the bird in the cage flying away represents the destiny in each of us). It becomes emotional, with Dakota appearing briefly. This is the kind of track that I would listen to many times on a journey like when I used to travel from my home in the UK to the French alps when I was a kid (14 hours in the car). Songs like this can let your imagination drift. It is not just the vocals but the melody of the song.

‘Same Movie Scene’ which you sent to me before you released was epic! I have to say this is your best duet with Dakota. Visually it’s very warm, and you finish each others verses. It’s the ‘Romeo and Juliet’ of your mixtape with a kind of ‘Thelma and Louise’ journey in it. My fave.

There are so many other great tracks on this mixtape. I could write another 10000 words about them.

The skits reminded me of Will Smith’s Willenium sketches with the ‘Keith B Real’ character (I have to admit that is probably the first album I bought as a kid)Classic. If you check out that album, listen to those skits!

Lastly, where do you go from here? That is a great question. I think you are telling the world something that it needs to hear. There is so much out there that is overly commercialized without a soul and that doesn’t come from the artist. I can feel how much work you guys have put into this, with all that time in the studio, the writing, the mixing, the singing. Even as you speak there is always a voice singing in your mind, ready for the next track! You got to love what you do to be good at it, and I know you will succeed because you know you’ve done the work. Passion counts, and if anyone gets to the bottom if this ridiculously long post, don’t give up!

    Congrats!!
